The primary gameplay element in Starship: Beyond is the mission system. Players will equip themselves with a weapon, armor, utility gear, and consumables to fight and collect resources from the planet below!
There are 5 levels of missions, from the new-player challenging Tier 1 missions all the way up to the Brutally difficult Tier 5 missions!
Every mission is semi-randomized, with resources to collect from both killing alien lifeforms and harvesting nodes! Each level also features a Boss with randomized traits and extra valuable loot!
A citizen does not risk their life when undertaking a mission - the Beyond is equipped with an advanced EWS system that will extract the player upon defeat! That isn't to say the Emergency Withdrawal System doesn't come with a few drawbacks, so plan your missions carefully!
A player does not obtain ANY loot that is gained on a mission until they defeat the boss and choose to return to the ship! Any loot obtained by a player who is extracted by the EWS will be lost!
Players will lose durability, ammo, and consumables brought to the mission when they are retrieved by the EWS! Learn more about that on the next page!
Players can find the following types of loot in a typical mission, from the noted sources
Alien Currency - common enemy loot, converts to STARC at 100:1 ratio!
Foreign Metal - looted from ground source rocks & ores
Strange Flora - looted from ground source plants
Suspicious Orbs - looted rarely from ground source objects or enemies
Unfamiliar Trophy - looted from bosses
Each mission takes place on a planet, which lasts for an entire Season (month) and while the levels that players take on are randomized, each will be influenced by the planet's traits!
Primary Traits influence the Alien life on the planet in question, making certain types of enemies more common or giving them some uniform perks that players will contend with for the duration of the season!
Secondary Traits are less impactful for gameplay, but rather focus on changing the dynamics of the loot acquired during the mission and brought back to the Beyond!
